One hundred Mt. Fuji views
5th ~ 6th year of Tenpo (1834~35)
Artist: Hokusai Katsushika
Hokusai Katsushika created this “100 Mt. Fuji views” several years after his famous “36 Mt. Fuji views”. The first volume was published in 1834 and the second in 1835. The preface of the first volume is written by Tanehiko Ryutei, who was a friend of Hokusai and authored the masterpiece of light fiction, “Nise Murasaki Inaka Genji” (The False Tale of Genji). Hokusai’s skillful positioning of many moving people and use of deformed perspective is more pronounced than in “36 Mt. Fuji views”.
